This request will have to go to Selectman to be reviewed. Please include the date, time, number ofvehicles and how many people  are requesting to go to the beach. Are they renting a house in Chilmark? This is a very rare request during the season. We do not allow any events on Lucy Vincent such as weddings. This location is residentional beach only by lease

Subject: permit for filming at Lucy Vincent?

Pam Bunker
Chairperson, Beach Committee
Chilmark, MA

Dear Pam Bunker,

I'm a research assistant for John Rubin, a locally-based documentary filmmaker who is working on a film about the independent discovery of natural selection by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace. I'm writing because we would like to film for one day (probably a half a day of shooting) on Lucy Vincent Beach. Our production dates are not set yet, but the window is between June 27th and July 4th.

Could you tell me how we should go about requesting a permit for this, or forward me to the appropriate people to talk to about applying for permission?

John Rubin is an Emmy-award-winning filmmaker whose work has appeared on Nova, American Experience and the National Geographic Channel. (You can see examples of his work at johnrubin.com). I'd be glad to explain more about the project and answer any questions you have. You can reach me via email at this address, or at (617) 955-3487.

Thanks very much!
